RUTGERS NEWARK DROPS RAMAPO BEHIND BECKER'S 25 KILLS

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team fell short tonight to the Scarlet Raiders of Rutgers Newark, 1-3 (24-30, 19-30, 31-29, 21-30). Ramapo falls to 11-7 overall, 2-3 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference while the Scarlet Raiders improve to 13-6 overall, 4-1 in the conference.

Sophomore outside hitter Allison Becker (Ft. Mitchell, KY) led the Scarlet Raiders posting a match high 25 kills on 53 attempts with five errors. Becker hit .377 on the night while Melissa Strom (Fairfax, VA) hit .333 posting 17 kills on 36 attempts with five errors. Junior Jennifer Snyder (Gibbsboro, NJ) recorded ten kills of her own and Julie Pape (Baldwin, NY) and Sheena Eldred (Fairfax, VA) added nine and six kills respectively. Eldred dished-out a team-high 57 assists and defensive specialist Robin Pearce (Shadow Hills, CA) recorded 18 digs. Becker added 12 digs of her own in the win. The Scarlet Raiders recorded 22 points on service aces on the night. As a team the Scarlet Raiders hit .277 with 68 kills on 155 attempts with 25 errors.

Ramapo's senior middle SAMANTHA WEJNERT (Paramus, NJ) led the way recording 14 kills with five errors on 30 attempts hitting .300 and rookie ROCHELLE KIZHERMAN (Paramus, NJ) followed hitting .348 recording nine kills on 23 attempts with one error. Seniors LISA FISCHMAN (Bloomfield, NJ) and REBECCA STRANG (Rockaway, NJ) combined for 13 kills and ten digs in the match-up. Sophomore setter ASHLEY CORNETT (Hawthorne, NJ) dished-out a team-high 34 assists while CHRISTINE SIMMONS (Upper Saddle River, NJ) led the defense with 14 digs in the loss. Ramapo hit .195 recording 43 kills on 123 attempts with 19 errors.

The Roadrunners will travel to Montclair State on Tuesday, October 18th for a 7:00 PM start.
