WRIGHTS NETS 21, WILSON RECORDS 18 IN 89-84 VICTORY OVER KEAN

Mahwah , NJ : The Ramapo Roadrunners and the Kean Cougars faced off tonight at the Bradley Center in a men's basketball NJAC rivals match-up. The Roadrunners earned their ninth straight victory dropping the Cougars, 89-84 in Mahwah. Ramapo improves to 14-2 overall, 8-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference while Kean falls to 11-7 overall, 5-5 in the conference.

In the first twenty minutes of play, the Roadrunners out rebounded, 30-18 and out shot, 16-40 (40%) to 11-31 (36%), the Cougars grabbing a 12 point, 39-27 halftime lead. Kean held the lead for only the first three minutes of the game before Ramapo took hold and jumped to a 21-point edge with just three minutes left in the half. The Cougars wrapped up the first with a 9-0 run to close the gap to 12.

Kean's Armet Coles (Staten Island, NY ) netted 12 points in the second half helping Kean to close the gap to nine at the 2:24 mark. The Cougars came within three with just 45 seconds left in the game but Ramapo held on earning the 89-84 victory.

Senior guard AMIN WRIGHT (Jersey City, NJ ) led the team posting 21 points shooting 7-18 from the field, 6-7 from the line while sophomore RASHAWN WILSON (Jersey City, NJ ) recorded a double-double with 18 points and 15 boards. Sophomore transfer TODD LOWBER (Riverside, NJ ) recorded 16 points while adding three blocks and DERRIK HOLLEY (Jersey City, NJ ) netted 11 points in the win.

For the Cougars, Coles led the way with 20 points and eight rebounds and Bryan Keller (Piscataway, NJ ) and Bryan Miller (Trenton, NJ ) posted 17 and 14 points shooting 5-9 and 6-9 respectively. Senior guard Tan Kesler (Turkey ) dished out a team-high seven assists in the loss.

The Roadrunners will travel to Rutgers Camden on Saturday, January 29th for a 3:00 PM start while the Cougars host The College of New Jersey at 1:00 PM.
