Mahwah , NJ : The Ramapo College women's volleyball team suffered a tough 3-2 (25-30, 30-26, 35-33, 19-30, 12-15) loss tonight to the Beavers of City College of NY. The Roadrunners fall to 0-7 overall while the Beavers improve to 4-2.

After falling behind 25-30 in game one, the Roadrunners fought back posting a 30-26 game two, and a 35-33 game three victory. CCNY dropped the Roadrunners by 11 taking game four, 30-19, and fought back in game five taking the game 15-12 and the match 3-2 over the Roadrunners.

Erja Vettenranta (Manhattan , NY ) led the Beavers with 27 kills on 62 attempts while Jacqueline Peralta (Manhattan , NY ) and Catherine Martinez (Bronx , NY ) posted 15 and 14 kills respectively. Viviana Cifuentes (Queens , NY ) dished out a team high 50 assists and Martinez led the defense with 22 digs. Vettenranta posted 19 digs while Cifuentes recorded 18 of her own.

For the Roadrunners, junior JACQUELINE MONROY (Rahway, NJ) led the team with 21 kills on 54 attempts while REBECCA STRANG (Rockaway, NJ) and SAMANTHA WEJNERT (Paramus, NJ) added 11 and ten respectively. Rookie ASHLEY CORNETT (Hawthorne , NJ ) and senior LINDSAY WESTON (Torrington , CT ) combined for 38 assists. Senior defensive specialist CAMILA VIEIRA (Brazil ) posted 29 digs in the loss.

The Roadrunners will travel to Rutgers Camden on Tuesday, September 21st at 6:00 PM .
