Mahwah , NJ : The Ramapo College women's soccer team opened their 2004 season today hosting the Chargers of Lancaster Bible at the Athletic Center in Mahwah. Rookie LINDSAY KOTULA (Manalapan, NJ) posted three goals and two assists leading Ramapo to an 8-0 victory. The Roadrunners open the year, 1-0 while Lancaster Bible opens the 2004 season at 0-1.
Ramapo took a 2-0 lead just over ten minutes into the first when KOTULA hit the back of the net at 3:29 and CHRISSY GIORDANO (Oakland, NJ) connected with KOTULA at 10:22. C. GIORDANO and sophomore AMY KETCHERSID (Point Pleasant , NJ ) each netted one in the first half at 14:12 and 39:26 respectively, ending the first half, 4-0 over the Chargers.
In the second 45, KOTULA added her third at 52:14 from KETCHERSID and JESSICA GIORDANO (Oakland , NJ ) posted her first of the year from KOTULA. KOTULA added a third for the hat trick at 57:28, unassisted and DANA CHIAPPONE (Marlboro, NJ) hit the back of the net with two minutes to go dropping the Chargers, 8-0.
Junior CHRISTY TURNER (Ringwood , NJ ) played the first 45 and rookie SAMANTHA GRIBBEN (Pequannock , NJ ) finished out the game sharing the shut out, recording zero saves.
Sophomore keeper Kelley Wood (Pittsburg , PA ) posted 12 saves in the loss.
The Roadrunners will travel to the Rachel Miller Tournament in Rochester , NY , Saturday and Sunday, September 4th and 5th.
