RAMAPO DROPS RUTGERS NEWARK, 95-69 IN MAHWAH

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's basketball team dropped the Scarlet Raiders of Rutgers Newark, 95-69 tonight at the Athletic Center in Mahwah in their final regular season home game. The Roadrunners improve to 19-5 overall, 8-4 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference Gold Division while the Scarlet Raiders fall to 13-12 overall, 4-9 in the conference.

Ramapo led by as many 11 in the first 20 minutes of the game with senior guard CHARLES RANSOM (Jersey City, NJ) leading the way shooting 8-9 from the free throw line for ten points in the half. Senior JAY DEGROAT (Middletown, NY) netted eight in the first shooting a perfect 3-3 from the floor, 2-2 from behind the three-point arc.

RANSOM finished the game with 20 points, 14-16 from the line, while DEGROAT finished with ten in the victory. JARED MILLIGAN (Ringwood, NJ) recorded 14 and QUAMEIR HARDING (Jersey City, NJ) sunk eight. Junior ELIAZAR VELEZ (West New York, NJ) pulled down a team-high eight rebounds while senior GREG MCBAIN (Waldwick, NJ), junior AMIN WRIGHT (Jersey City, NJ), and MILLIGAN contributed four each. Rookie ANTOINE PRYOR (Jersey City, NJ) dished out four assists in the 95-69 win. Ramapo shot 33-62 (53%) over Rutgers Newark's 26-58 (45%).

For the Scarlet Raiders, rookie Jermont Horton (Irvington, NJ) sunk a team-high 28 points shooting 12-17 from the field while Ronnie Melendez (West New York, NJ) and Donald Parrish (Newark, NJ) netted 12 apiece shooting 4-9 and 4-8 respectively. Melendez grabbed eight rebounds and Horton and Parrish grabbed six and three respectively. Leading assist man, Parrish, dished out seven in the loss.

The Roadrunners will travel to Kean University on Saturday, February 21st for a 4:00 PM start time.
