Derrick Holley (Jersey City, NJ/Dickinson) added a dozen points, four steals and three assists as Ramapo held off Rutgers-Newark, 72-65, in the New Jersey Athletic Conference opener for each team in The Golden Dome.
Senior guard Manny Rios (Newark, NJ/North 13th Street Tech), who finished with 19 points, six steals and three assists, gave the Scarlet Raiders (2-1, NJAC 0-1) their last lead with a 3-point jumper with 5:05 left to play, making it 59-58.

Antoine Pryor (Elizabeth, NJ/St. Patrick) answered with a trey before a inside basket by senior guard
Amin Wright (Jersey City, NJ/Ferris) pushed the lead to 63-59 with 4:53 remaining. The Raiders never got closer than two points after that as Pryor and freshman guard Jesse Allen (Elizabeth, NJ /Roselle Catholic) canned two free throws apiece in the final 17 seconds to ice the win.
Sophomore forward JermontHorton (Irvington, NJ /Irvington ) led all scorers with 20 points to go along with eight rebounds and two steals. Junior guard Justin Carter (Paterson, NJ /Don Bosco Tech) chipped in 11 points, five steals and four assists for the Raiders.
Allen had a game-high 11 rebounds to go along with nine points and three assists for Ramapo (1-0, NJAC 1-0). Wright tallied nine points with seven rebounds while freshman forward
Shawn Frost (Newark, NJ/Our Lady of Good Counsel) had 10 points and six rebounds.
