Mahwah , NJ : The Ramapo College women's volleyball team wrapped up their 2004 regular season tonight at the Bradley Center in Mahwah falling short, 0-3 (19-30, 13-30, 19-30) to the Profs of Rowan University. Ramapo finishes the regular season, 7-19 overall, 3-4 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference while the Profs finish at 24-3 overall, 7-0 in the conference.
Rookie Ashley Carberry (Newark, NJ ) led the Profs with 11 kills on 18 attempts while Melissa Ferguson (Wilmington, DE ) followed with eight kills on 18 attempts. Jennifer Spargo (Succasunna, NJ ) and Lauren Haney (Fairfax, VA ) added six kills apiece and Spargo added four digs in the victory. Junior setter Joelle McNulty (Collegeville, PA ) dished-out a team high 34 assists. Defensive specialist Marcela Gomez (Paramus, NJ ) led the way posting 16 digs and Lauren Hickman (Mullica Hill, NJ ) added ten.
For the Roadrunners, junior SAMANTHA WEJNERT (Paramus, NJ ) posted nine kills and REBECCA STRANG (Rockaway, NJ) and JACQUELINE MONROY (Rahway, NJ ) added six kills each. LYNDSEY WESTON (Torrington, CT ) and ASHLEY CORNETT (Hawthorne, NJ ) combined for 24 assists while CAMILA VIEIRA (Brazil ) led the defense with 11 digs. STRANG had ten digs in the match.
The Profs clinched the number one spot in the New Jersey Athletic Conference while the Roadrunners will enter as the number five seed. Outcomes of the final NJAC match-ups tonight will determine Ramapo's opponent. The tournament begins on Tuesday, November 2nd.
