Mahwah, NJ: Head Coach Don Vanderbeck recorded his 200th career win tonight at the Athletic Center as the Roadrunners defeated the Gothic Knights of New Jersey City University, 3-0, (30-21, 30-21, 30-17) in Mahwah. Ramapo improves to 4-0 overall, 2-0 in the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association while the Gothic Knights fall to 3-2 overall, 2-2 in the conference.
Ramapo was led by senior KRIS FRASER (Lakewood, NJ) with 21 kills on 34 attempts hitting 53%. FRASER recorded five total blocks and four service aces while senior TOM WHITE (Clifton, NJ) led the defense with nine digs. WHITE posted five kills in the match and juniors RYAN HOWELL (Bridgewater, NJ) and JERRY ROMAN (West New York, NJ) each added six apiece. GERALD REINER (Ringwood, NJ) killed seven of his own and HECTOR RODRIGUEZ (West New York, NJ) and EMMANUEL ZEON (Howell, NJ) chipped in one each. RODRIGUEZ dished out a team-high 41 assists.
For the Gothic Knights, Robert Griffiths (Edison, NJ) led the way with ten kills on 16 attempts while Edward Sosa (Jersey City, NJ), Gabriel Hernandez (Union City, NJ), and Damon LaSalle (Clifton, NJ) recorded eight, five, and five respectively. Maurice Washington (Orlando, FL) posted 22 assists and four digs while Jean Sanchez (East Orange, NJ) added four digs of his own.
Ramapo will travel to the Stevens Tech Tournament on Saturday, January 31st and Sunday, February 1st.
