Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's soccer team faced the Pioneers of William Paterson today at the Athletic Center. Ramapo falls to 4-3-1 overall, 0-2 NJAC while the Pioneers improve to 5-3 overall, 1-1 in the conference.
William Paterson posted three goals in the first half taking a 1-0 lead just six minutes into the game when rookie Laura Conte (Wayne, NJ) blasted a shot from 40 yards out. Kat McPhail (Sparta, NJ) netted one of her own during a scramble in the box which deflected off a Ramapo defender. Erin Finn (Kearny, NJ) connected with a direct kick just outside the 18-yard box from senior Allison McCarthy (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ) giving the Pioneers a 3-0 halftime lead. William Paterson out shot Ramapo 9-0 in the half.
At 48:02 William Paterson's Lea Mullady (Staten Island, NY) gave the Pioneers a 4-0 lead and Finn made the lead five when she connected with a cross from senior Amy Wieszun (Wayne, NJ). Ramapo broke the shut out at 70:37 when AMY KETCHERSID (Point Pleasant, NJ) netted her second goal of the season assisted by MEGHAN FARRELL (Monroe Township, NJ).
Goalkeeper Meghan Koppel (Spotswood, NJ) posted one save while CHRISTY TURNER (Ringwood, NJ) blocked three shots in 90 minutes.
