RAMAPO GRABS FIRST WIN AT HOME

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's basketball team tipped off their home season tonight at Athletic Center at the 2003-2004 Roadrunner Tip-Off Tournament with an 83-81 victory over the Maccabees of Yeshiva University. In the first game of the night, Suffolk University posted a 73-70 win over Baruch College advancing to the finals where they will face the Roadrunners.

Game 1: The Rams of Suffolk University opened the night with a 73-70 victory over the Bearcats of Baruch College opening their 2003-2004 season standing at 1-0 overall. Baruch stands at 0-1. Scott Meier (Clemsford, MA) led the Rams with a career high 33 points and four rebounds. Marc Borghesi (Torrington, CT) netted 11 points while Chris Fritch (Torrington, CT) and Eric Jenkins (Bristol, CT) followed with seven and six points respectively. Fritch and Chris Tighe (Easton, MA) combined for eight assists. Suffolk shot 20-57 from the floor (35.1%) behind Baruch's 26-71 (36.6%).

For Baruch, Garry Etienne (Jamaica, NY) netted 17 points leading the team while Sime Marnika (Long Island City, NY) recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Etienne pulled down nine boards and John Burzo (Brooklyn, NY) pulled down six of his own.

Game 2: The Roadrunners, just slid by Yeshiva University, 83-81 improving to 2-0 overall while Yeshiva falls to 0-1. Senior CHARLES RANSOM (Jersey City, NJ) led Ramapo shooting 9-17 from the floor for 26 total points. RANSOM pulled down four boards in the game while dishing out four assists. Junior AMIN WRIGHT (Jersey City, NJ) added 13 points for Ramapo and JARED MILLIGAN (Ringwood, NJ) and ANTIONE PRYOR (Jersey City, NJ) netted nine and eight points respectively. MILLIGAN grabbed four steals in the game.

For Yeshiva, Jack Yulzary (Memphis, TN) led the way recording 26 points shooting 10-13 from the floor. Yulzary sunk six three-pointers and added four assists. Harel Vatavu (Ramat Gan, Isreal) recorded 17 points and Ian Ribald (Dallas, TX) added 14.

Yeshiva shot a solid 58%, (29-50) from the floor over Ramapo's 46%, (29-63).

Yeshiva will face Baruch tomorrow at 2:00 PM in the consolation game while Ramapo will take on Suffolk at 4:00 PM in the finals of the 2003-2004 Roadrunner Tip-Off Tournament.
