RAMAPO HOLDS SOLE POSSESION OF 1ST PLACE AFTER DEFEATING MONTCLAIR STATE, 84-81

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's basketball team defeated the Red Hawks of Montclair State University today at the Athletic Center, 84-81, to slide into sole possession of first place in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Roadrunners improve to 14-2 overall, 8-1 in the NJAC, while Montclair falls to 13-2 overall, 7-2 in the conference.

Ramapo took a 13-11 lead six minutes into the game and never looked back leading for the next 34 straight minutes. The Roadrunners led by as many as 16 in the first half and took the game in the second when senior TENNYSON WHITTED (Jersey City, NJ) was fouled with nine seconds left in the game. WHITTED sunk both pushing Ramapo up three. Sophomore AMIN WRIGHT's (Jersey City, NJ) block with two seconds left ended Montclair's chance to pull out the win.

Ramapo was led by JARED MILLIGAN (Ringwood, NJ) with 19 points and four boards. Senior WHITTED posted a double-double with 14 assists and ten points while also chipping in three steals. JAY DEGROAT (Middletown, NY) added 16 points and CHARLES RANSOM (Jersey City, NJ) netted 13 points of his own. RANSOM pulled down six boards while adding three steals in the game. KEVIN STOKES (Wyckoff, NJ) sunk ten and WRIGHT added seven, stole four, and recorded four rebounds. The Roadrunners shot 31-65 (47%) from the floor while the Red Hawks shot 31-72 (43%).

Junior Jerome Trawick (Newark, NJ) posted a team-high 26 points and 14 rebounds while adding one steal. Ben Martinez (Scotch Plains, NJ) and rookie Antwan Dozier (Pleasantville, NJ) tallied 15 points each. Dozier recorded six total rebounds.

The Roadrunners will play host to The College of New Jersey of Saturday, January 25th at 3:30 PM at the Athletic Center.
