Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's soccer team defeated New Jersey City University today at the Athletic Center, 8-0 to improve to 4-4-1 overall, 1-1-1 NJAC. The Gothic Knights fall to 1-7 overall, 0-4 NJAC.

Ramapo tok a 4-0 lead 49 minutes into the game when rookie JESSICA STOVEKEN (Lyndhurst, NJ) and junior KIM STEPIEN (Clifton, NJ) recorded two goals each. STOVEKEN opened the scoring in the 24th minute and STEPIEN posted one just three minutes later. LAUREN REYNOLDS (Monroe, NJ) netted two of her own and JESSICA BROWN (Haddon Twp, NJ) and LISA DEPREE (Ringwood, NJ) each added one dropping the Gothic Knights 8-0. STEPIEN (3), STOVEKEN (1), and REYNOLDS (2), all dished out assists in the match-up.

Rookie goalkeeper ANDREA ORTADO (East Brunswick, NJ) played 90 minutes without having to stop one shot while NJCU's goalkeeper Gina Sgroi (Lyndhurst, NJ) blocked 14 shots in 90 minutes.

The Roadrunners will travel to Rutgers Camden for NJAC action on Saturday, October 5th at 1:00 PM.
