Camden, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team rallied for a 3-2 (25-23, 11-25, 20-25, 26-24, 16-14) NJAC road victory over Rutgers-Camden University tonight. The Roadrunners improve to 7-3 overall and remain undefeated in conference play at 2-0, while the Scarlet Raptors move to 8-6 overall and 1-1 in the NJAC.
After Rutgers-Camden took a 2-1 lead in the match, the Roadrunners battled in a back-and-forth fourth set. Ramapo trailed by one, 24-23, before
Asya Akar delivered two straight kills to give the Roadrunners a 25-24 advantage.
Cass Chauhan followed with a kill to take the fourth set, 26-24, and force a fifth set.
In the final set, the Scarlet Raptors built a 12-6 lead before Ramapo scored five straight points to come within one, 12-11. Rutgers-Camden extended its lead to 14-12 before the Roadrunners responded with four unanswered points.
Jasmine Rolle had a hand in three straight, including the go-ahead kill for a 15-14 lead.
Sydney Tramontana followed with the match-winning kill as Ramapo completed the comeback, 16-14.
Akar led the Roadrunners with 19 kills while adding seven digs. Chauhan posted 16 kills and 15 digs while Tramontana added 13 kills. Rolle finished with 10 kills and three solo blocks, while
Aubrey Agcaoili dished out a team-high 41 assists.
Emily Tepale collected 12 digs to lead the team on defense while
Emma Fowler added nine digs and three service aces.
For Rutgers-Camden, Sofia Granieri led the team with 14 kills while Nissi Wadieh added 12 of her own in the match. JoAnna Andrews dished out a team-high 25 assists while Cassie Guim added 21. Mia Owens led the defense with 17 digs, while Andrews and Lora Kunicki each collected 10.
The Roadrunners return to action on Thursday at the Bradley Center when they host NJAC rival Rowan University at 7pm.
