Dallas, PA: The Misericordia University women's lacrosse team came back to defeated Ramapo College, 14-8. The Cougars move to 3-2 overall while Roadrunners even their record to 1-1 overall.
Ramapo got on the board first in the game as
Bethany Glaser scored unassisted with 11:29 on the clock in the first quarter before the Cougars scored the next three to take the lead, 3-1.
Meri Cassidy scored with 31 seconds left in the quarter off a pass from
Ashley Czeczuga to come within one of tying the game, 2-3. Misericordia scored the first three goals of the second before Ramapo saw themselves playing a man up when
Erin Smeilus hit the back of the next twice. Cassidy assisted on the first goal from Smeilus while Glaser assisted on the final goal of the first half with ten seconds left. The Cougars held a 6-4 lead at halftime.
Misericordia pulled away in the third quarter when they recorded six goals while Glaser tallied both goals in the quarter for the Roadrunners, both unassisted. The Cougars held a 12-6 lead before Smeilus scored her third goal of the game as Ramapo was a man-up. Baez scored the final goal in the fourth between the final two goals from Misericordia's Riley Fischer.
Glaser and Smeilus each posted three goals for the Roadrunners while Glaser also tallied two assists to record five points in the game. Glaser, Czeczuga and
Leah Whitney all led the team with three ground balls each while Smeilus posted a team high five draw controls. In goal, Daniella Indomencio recorded 13 saves for the Roadrunners, just two off tying her single-game career high.
The Roadrunners will return to action on Saturday, March 7th when they travel to Manhattanville University for a non-conference game set for 11:00 AM.
