RAMAPO BLANKS HUNTER IN NON-CONFERENCE ACTION

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College softball team swept a pair of non-conference games against Hunter College today at home, 15-0 in game one and 8-0 in game two. The Roadrunners improve to 14-3 overall while the Hawks now stand at 2-12 on the year.

Game #1: Ramapo 15, Hunter 0 | Five Innings
The Roadrunners collected 13 hits and scored 15 runs while starting pitcher Gabby Morgan (5-1 overall) fired her second straight shutout of the week. Morgan struck out four and let up just five hits over five innings of work. In the bottom of the first, Hannah Hensler scored on a Hunter fielding error for a 1-0 lead. In the second, Kori Gargiulo laced a double down the left field line which allowed Aimee Notaro and Elianna Meola to score, 3-0. Hensler singled home Lia Milsom and Gargiulo to push the score 5-0. In the third inning, Gargiulo hit her second double of the game, this time with the bases loaded as all three runners scored to extend the lead, 8-0. Later in the third, Paley Sullivan drove in Gargiulo and Hensler with a two-RBI double down the right field line, 10-0. Ramapo added five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Clay'le Correa-Vanness singled to center field to plate Meola before Niah Murphy laced a single through the infield to plate Emily Reilly, 12-0. Sullivan drove in Correa-Vanness with an RBI single before Alex Hastings and Aimee Notaro hit back-to-back RBI doubles for the 15-0 score.

Gargiulo led the way at the plate in game one finishing 2-3 with five RBI and two runs scored while Sullivan finished 2-3 with four RBI and one run scored.

Game #2: Ramapo 8, Hunter 0 | Six Innings

Ramapo starting pitcher Brooke Knight (6-1 overall) fired a one-hitter in the complete game shutout with seven strikeouts and no walks. The Roadrunners got on the board in the bottom of the second with two runs when Milsom drove in both Notaro and Emily Ehrmann. In the fourth, Gargiulo and Hensler hit back-to-back RBI doubles. Gargiulo plated Ehrmann with a double to center field before Hensler drove in Gargiulo and Angelina Ciesnicki with a double to right field, 5-0. Ehrmann laced a hard-hit single to right-center field which allowed Notaro to score before Reily later scored on an RBI groundout from Milsom, 7-0. Sullivan drove in the game-winning run in Ciesnicki with a single through the infield for the 8-0 score.

The Roadrunners collected 14 hits in game two while Ciesnicki and Sullivan each finished 3-4 while Hensler, Notaro and Ehrmann each posted two hits. Milsom led the way with three RBI.

Ramapo will open NJAC play at home on Saturday, March 28th when they host Kean University. The first pitch of game one is set for 1pm.
