RAMAPO SOFTBALL BLANKS MOUNT SAINT MARY, 3-0 & 5-0

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader against Mount Saint Mary College (3-7 overall). The Roadrunners (11-3 overall) won game one 3-0 and game two 5-0.  

Game #1: Ramapo 3, MSMC 0
The Roadrunners got on the board in the bottom of the first inning when Hannah Hensler walked and later scored on a wild pitch. Paley Sullivan doubled down the left field line and Alex Hastings drew a walk before they both came around to score on Angelina Ciesnicki's two-RBI single to center field, 3-0. Gabby Morgan (4-1) worked a complete game in the circle for the Roadrunners as she struck out a career high nine batters while walking three and surrendering six hits. Ciesnicki led the way with two hits as she finished 2-3 in the game.

Game #2: Ramapo 5, MSMC 0
Ramapo got on the board once again in the bottom of the first inning. Angelina Ciesnicki and Hannah Hensler hit back-to-back doubles as Ciesnicki came around to score with the first run of the game. Alex Hastings hit a standup triple down the right field line which plated Hensler, 2-0. In the fifth, it was Hensler once again who drove in an RBI with a double to right field as Kori Gargiulo scored, 3-0. Sullivan beat out an infield single to second base as Hensler scored on the play, 4-0. In the sixth inning, Emily Reilly came up big with a pinch-hit double to left-center field before Gargiulo hit a double of her own which allowed Reilly to score, 5-0.

Ramapo starting pitcher Brooke Knight fired a one-hitter as she struck out six and walked three in the complete game win. Gargiulo finished 3-4 with one run scored and one RBI while Hastings finished 3-3 with one RBI and Hensler finished 2-3 with two runs scored and two RBI.

The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow afternoon when they host Hunter College in a pair of non-conference games at the Athletic Center. First pitch of game one is set for 3:30pm.
