Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College baseball team came back early in the game to defeat the University of Mount Saint Vincent, 13-3. The Roadrunners move to 10-5 overall while the Dolphins drop to 3-11 overall.
Joe Micchio (1-0) earned his first career victory on the mound for the Roadrunners. Micchio worked 4.2 innings in relief with four strikeouts and no walks while he surrendered four hits. The Roadrunners saw themselves down 3-0 heading into the second inning before they scored five runs to take a 5-3 lead.
Casey Chiola laced a single down the left field line to pick up two RBI and put the Roadrunners on the board.
Julian Caruso was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force home
Dan Maglio to tie the game, 3-3.
Julian Schultz worked a walk with the bases loaded as Chiola scored before
Jack Tallent reached on a fielder's choice which allowed
Dustin McGuinness to score, 5-3. In the fourth, Tallent reached 100 career hits with an RBI single to right field which allowed Caruso and Schultz to come around to score, 7-3.
Braden Schappert belted a double to right field as Tallent came around to score for an 8-3 lead. Ramapo added five more runs in the fifth. The inning was highlighted by a two-RBI single from
Zach Novakowski while Maglio picked up an RBI with a double to right field.
The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow afternoon when they travel to Manhattanville University for a non-conference game at 3pm.
