RAMAPO SOFTBALL DEFEATS WORCESTER, FALLS TO #13 WISCONSIN-OSHKOSH

Clermont, FL:  The Ramapo College softball team split a pair of games today at THE Spring Games. The Roadrunners move to 9-2 overall as they fell to #13 ranked University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, 2-0; before they came back to defeat Worcester State University, 4-3.

Game #1: Wis. Oshkosh 2, Ramapo 0
Kiran Sanford (4-0) held the Roadrunners to just two hits while she struck out 13 and walked four in the complete game shutout. In a tightly contested game, the Titans scratched a run across in the second and third innings. In the second, the bases were loaded with two outs before Emma Bohn was hit by a pitch to force home Brianne Lopez. Lopez led off the inning with a single. In the third, Morgan Miller singled up the middle and advanced to second on a ball misplayed in the outfield before later scoring on a hit to right field, 2-0. The Titans would hold the Roadrunners scoreless as they got out of jams in the fourth and fifth innings. Ramapo would strand two runners in each of those innings as the Titans preserved their 2-0 lead. Ramapo starting pitcher Gabby Morgan and the Roadrunners got out of a jam themselves in the bottom of the fourth. With two outs and the bases loaded Morgan induced a fly-out to right field to end the Titan threat.

Morgan finished 1-3 at the plate with one of Ramapo's two hits while she struck out four, walked three and let up six hits in the circle. Madison Groschel-Klein pinch hit for the Roadrunners in the seventh and drove a hard-hit single to right field.

Game #2: Ramapo 4, Worcester St. 3
The Roadrunners and Lancers played a back-and-forth game today as the score was tied twice, in the fifth inning and in the seventh before Ramapo won the game in the bottom of the seventh. Ramapo took a 1-0 lead in the third inning when Alex Hastings drove in Hannah Hensler with an RBI single. In the fourth, Gargiulo laced a single through the left side of the infield which allowed Lia Milsom to come around to score, 2-0. The Lancers plated two unearned runs in the fifth inning to tie the game, 2-2. In the bottom of the fifth, Hensler worked a four-pitch walk before Hastings put down a bunt single. With two outs, Aimee Notaro singled to left field which allowed Hensler to score, 3-2. Worcester State scored the game-tying run in the top of the seventh with two outs before Ramapo came back to win it in the bottom of the seventh. Hensler led off the inning with a double down the left field line before moving to third base on an infield ground out to second base from Hastings. Hensler then scored on a wild pitch to give Ramapo the 4-3 walk-off victory.

Brooke Knight (4-0) earned the win in relief for the Roadrunners. In the final three innings, she struck out three, walked two and let up three hits and one run. Mikayla McJilton worked the first four complete innings as she surrendered two hits and two unearned runs. Gargiulo, Hensler and Hastings all collected two hits each for the Roadrunners while Hensler scored three out of the four runs for the Roadrunners.

Ramapo returns to action tomorrow in their final two games of THE Spring Games. They will take on New York University at 1:30pm and the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at 4pm.
