Chestertown, MD: The Ramapo College baseball team swept a pair of non-conference games on the road at Washington College (MD), 3-2 in game one and 8-1 in game two. The game was called due to darkness in game two after seven complete innings. The Roadrunners remain undefeated at 3-0 overall while the Shoremen move to 2-3 on the season.
Game 1: Roadrunners 3, Shoremen 2 | 9 Innings
The Roadrunners plated two runs in the top of the eight with a triple off the bat of
Julian Schultz to take a 3-2 lead. With two outs, and runners on first and second, Schults blasted a ball to the right-center gap which allowed
Colin Kassai and
Julian Caruso to score. After four scoreless innings, Ramapo plated one run in the top of the eighth, once again off the bat of Schultz who plated Caruso with an RBI double, 1-0. In the bottom of the inning the Shoremen took a 2-1 lead when C Ruppel hit a two-run home run.
Kevin Penny worked three innings in relief to earn his first collegiate win, he did not give up a hit and struck out four including the final out of the game.
John Hacker started on the mound for the Roadrunners, he struck out nine, walked three and surrendered just four hits and two runs over six innings of work.
Game 2: Roadrunners 8, Shoremen 1 | 7 Innings
Ramapo scored five runs in the first inning aided by two bases loaded hit-by-pitch.

Brandon Tauber drove in Novakowski with an RBI groundout. Maglio later scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Eri Knapp for the 5-0 score. In the sixth inning, Pellegrino drove a single through the right side of the infield which plated Caruso and Shultz, 7-0. The Shoremen scored their single run in the bottom half of the sixth with an RBI groundout before Ramapo added their final run in the seventh inning. Knapp led off with a single, advanced to second on a wild pitch and later scored on a Shoremen error, 8-1.
James Kahn (1-0) earned the win on the mound for the Roadrunners as he struck out seven, walked one and surrendered just one hit and one run over six innings.
Hunter Sabbers entered in relief in the seventh and struck out the side. Ramapo scratched together five hits in the game by five different Roadrunners while Pellegrino collected three RBI to lead the way.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, March 4th when they travel to FDU-Florham for a non-conference game at 3:30 PM.
