WOMEN'S LACROSSE OPENS SEASON WITH 21-4 WIN OVER KING'S

Wilkes-Barre, PA:  The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team opens the 2026 season with a big win on the road over King's college, 21-4.

The Roadrunners (1-0 overall) scored the first three goals of the game before taking a 4-1 lead into the second quarter. Bethany Glaser scored off a pass from Kassidy Baez to put Ramapo on the board in the first. Meri Cassidy scored her first career goal, unassisted, before she assisted on the team's third goal off the stick of Kassidy Baez, 3-0. King's (0-1 overall) got on the board with an unassisted goal from Emily Kane before Erin Smeilus tallied her first of five goals for a 4-1 score. In the second, Smeilus added three more goals to her tally while Leah Whitney assisted the first in the quarter and Baez recorded assists on three goals; two from Smeilus and one from Glaser). Glaser posted two more goals, her second being set up by Darrien Pennachio. Whitney got in on the scoring action with her first goal this season as Ramapo went into halftime up 10-3. Whitney opened the scoring in the third with an unassisted goal while Glaser hit the back of the next once again off a pass from Baez. Cassidy made it an eleven-goal difference with back-to-back goals, 14-3. King's recorded their final goal of the game to wrap up the third as Sydney Stratton scored off a pass from Emily Kane. Ramapo held the Monarch's scoreless in the fourth quarter as seven different Roadrunners hit the back of the net. Baez and Glaser started the scoring off before Lexi Callari added her first career goal, unassisted. Pennachio scored to make it 18-4 before Cassidy and Smeilus added their final goals of the game. Jada Oddo scored the final goal for Ramapo for the 21-4 road victory.

Smeilus led the way with eight draw controls while Whitney posted four. Ashley Czeczuga and Smeilus led the team with four ground balls each while Kristina McClain led the way on defense with two caused turnovers. Daniella Indomencio recorded one save as she faced seven shots in the win for the Roadrunners in goal.

Ramapo returns to action on Feb. 25th at Drew University in non-conference action at 7:00 PM.
