Mahwah, NJ: The New Paltz field hockey team defeated Ramapo College today in non-conference action, 4-1. The Hawks move to 3-2 overall while the Roadrunner now stand at 1-3 on the season.
The Hawks scored their first goal of the game in the final seconds of the first quarter as Ashley McGough found the back of the net (14:48). Rachel Tama tallied the team's second goal in the third (39:35) before Ramapo cut the lead in half with a goal of their own. In the fourth, the Roadrunners got on the board as
Kayla Gray tallied her first goal of the season off a pass from
Victoria Chavez. The Hawks would add two more goals to extend their lead as Sophia Bronzi and Maya Okeefe each scored for New Paltz for the 4-2 score. The Roadrunners recorded all seven of their shots on goal while the Hawks posted 36 total shots with 26 on goal.
Emily Getz posted 21 saves in the game for the Roadrunners while Gail Comiskey added six saves for the Hawks.
Ramapo returns to action on Sept. 17th when they travel to Union College for a non-conference game scheduled for 6:00 PM.
