Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team swept the University of Mount Saint Vincent tonight at the Bradley Center, 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-13). The Roadrunners improve to 3-1 overall while the Dolphins drop to 1-5 on the year.
Katie Bishop collected her 1,000th career assist during set two of the match as she is just the seventh Roadrunner in women's volleyball program history to reach this mark. She ended the match with 33 assists along with three kills hitting .750 overall. Ramapo hit an impressive .483 as a team with 48 total kills on 87 attempts and just six team errors.
Valentina Palen led the way with 13 kills hitting .440 in the match while
Scarlett Melick posted 12 kills to hit .556 with eight digs.
Asya Akar did not have a hitting error in the match with nine kills on 14 attempts to hit .643. Aka also tallied three assists and 11 digs. Jasmie Rolle put down nine kills hitting .500. Bishop also posted five aces and seven digs.
Emma Garcia led the team on defense with 15 digs while adding eight assists and one ace.
For the Dolphins, Alyssa Padgett led the way with five kills on nine attempts with no errors to hit .556 in the match. Stephanie Rodriguez and Paige Staley split the setting duties and finished with seven and six assists each along with two digs each. On defense, Anna Nolasco posted a team high nine digs while Sienna Martin recorded five digs, four kills and two aces. The team collected 23 total kills on 85 attempts with eight errors.
The Roadrunners return to action on Thursday, Sept. 11th when they travel to Farmingdale State College for a non-conference match at 6pm.
