Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's soccer team opened up the 2025 season with a 2-0 home victory over Penn State University Abington.
The Roadrunners (1-0 overall) scored one goal in each half and held the Nittany Lions scoreless to earn their first shutout of the year.
Alim Lita put Ramapo on the board with just over thirty seconds remaining in the first half. Omar Flores-Sosa ripped a shot that was saved by the PSU keeper. The ball got away from him as Lita gained possession of the loose ball. Lita then hit the back of the net for the first goal of the season.
In the second half,
Luigi Portillo hit the back of the net to extend the Roadrunner lead 2-0.
Kyle Allen and
Gianfranco Ponce each earned an assist on the play. Ramapo netminder
Zachary Natt recorded eight saves in the game, including five in the second half, to keep PSU off the board.
Ramapo returns to action tomorrow at 2:00 PM at the Athletic Center Turf Field. The Roadrunners (1-0 overall) will host Plattsburgh State University (1-0 overall).
