Salisbury, MD: The #3 seeded Baldwin Wallace University baseball team opened the 2025 NCAA Salisbury Regional with a 19-7 win over Ramapo College in game one of the regional. The Yellow Jackets move to 31-13 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 27-15 on the year.
Baldwin Wallace tacked on five runs after two complete innings of play while Ramapo got one in the top of the second as the Yellow Jackets held a 7-1 lead. In the bottom of the first the Yellow Jackets took a 1-0 lead as their first run scored on a wild pitch before Ramapo tied the game in the top of the second inning.
John Higgins blasted a lead-off home run that hit the top of the scoreboard to tie the game at one. In the bottom of the second, Baldwin Wallace scored six runs on five hits with one Ramapo error to take a 7-1 lead. The inning was highlighted with a two-RBI double from Mally Kilbane.
The Roadrunners came back with one run in the third when
Zach Novakowski bounced into an RBI ground out to plate
Robert Klawans. Klawans singled and stole second earlier in the inning. The Yellow Jackets added five more runs to extend their lead, 12-2, in the bottom of the third inning. Ramap loaded the bases in the top of the fourth inning with a walk from
Jesse Swartout and back-to-back singles from Dominic Ciani and
Brandon Tauber. Following the second out of the inning,
Eric Knapp bounced a single up the middle into center field allowing two runs to score before Klawans and
Julian Caruso each singled to bring home Knapp, 5-12. Ramapo once again loaded the bases before the Yellow Jackets were able to get out of the jam with an infield pop fly to end the inning. In the fifth inning, Dennis Ritilinger belted a three-run home run to extend their lead, 15-5. The Yellow Jackets added two in the seventh before they added two in the eighth on a two-run home run for a 19-5 lead. In the ninth,
Zach Barbash singled home two RBI to plate Ramapo's last two runs of the game before the Yellow Jackets held the Roadrunners to get the final out of the game to secure the win.
James Pazdera (5-4) took the loss on the mound for the Roadrunners as he worked the first three innings. He surrendered nine hits and 12 runs with four walks. Higgins, Knapp, Klawans each posted two hits for Ramapo. For the Yellow Jackets, Vince Dolcemasc (9-1) earned the win on the mound with one strikeout, four walks while he let up ten hits and five runs.
Ramapo will now play in an elimination game tomorrow morning at 8:30am against the loser of #1 Salisbury and #4 Johnson & Wales.
