Ewing, NJ: The College of New Jersey baseball team defeated Ramapo College in NJAC action this afternoon, 2-0. The Lions move to 22-15 overall and 9-7 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners now stand at 24-12 overall and 8-8 in the conference.
Neither team could scratch a run across until the bottom of the eighth inning when the Lions scored two runs. A pair of singles and an error loaded the bases with. The Roadrunners induced an infield pop fly for out number one before a hard-hit single to center from Justin Marcario plated one run. The second run came home as the ball was misplayed seeing Gianni Marano touch home plate, 2-0. The Lions held the Roadrunners in the top of the ninth to secure a key NJAC conference win heading into the final weekend of conference play.
James Pazdera (5-2) struck out seven, walked three and scattered seven hits across 7.1 innings of work for Ramapo.
Ryan Lasko got the final two outs of the eighth inning for the Roadrunners with one strikeout. Ramapo collected nine hits in the game as
Eric Knapp finished 3-3.
Jackson Malouf (5-2) worked a complete game shutout for TCNJ with four strikeouts and no walks as he let up nine hits. Marcario and Tyler Provost each finished 2-4 at the plate for the team.
Ramapo will return to action in the final NJAC regular season games of the year on the road at Stockton University on Sunday, April 28th. The first pitch of game one is set for 11:30am.
