Winter Haven, FL: The Ramapo College baseball team won their fifth straight game with a 1-0 shutout victory over Augustana College (IL). The Roadrunners improve to 11-4 overall while the Vikings now stand at 8-5 overall.
In a game which saw 22 strikeouts between both teams and just eight hits; the Roadrunners scored the only run of the game in the seventh inning.
Jesse Swartout reached on an error and moved to second on the play before advancing to third on a fly ball out from
Matt Lalomia.
John Higgins drove Swartout home with an RBI single to take the one run lead.
Higgins then took the mound in the final two innings of action and held the Vikings to just one hit while he struck out two to close out the game for the Roadrunners.
James Pazdera (3-1) struck out ten, walked four and surrendered just one hit in seven innings of action.
Dominick Ciani finished 2-4 at the plate while Swartout connected on the only extra base hit for the Roadrunners.
Ramapo returns to action on Tuesday, March 25th when they host Alvernia University in non-conference action at 3:00pm.
