DEPETRIS, TAUBER LEAD RAMAPO OVER WOOSTER, 11-6

Winter Haven, FL:  The Ramapo College baseball team defeated the College of Wooster today at the RussMatt Baseball Invitational. The Roadrunners move to 7-4 overall while the Scots move to 5-8 overall.
 
Ramapo scored the first eight runs of the game for an early lead before Wooster got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the third. Zach Novakowski drove in Dominic Ciani with an RBI single before Jesse Swartout plated Zack Bailey with a sac fly to center, 2-0. Matt Lalomia launched a triple to center field which plated Novakowski for the third run of the inning. In the second inning, Bailey posted a two RBI double as Ciani and Tallent each scored, 5-0. Brandon Tauber connected on a two RBI single in the third inning as Lalomia and Swartout scored before John Higgins ripped a single to center to score Tauber for an 8-0 lead.
 
Wooster tallied two runs in the third and one run in the fourth while each team plated a single run in the fifth as Ramapo led, 9-4. Tauber plated his third RBI of the game in the sixth inning with a hard hit single to left which allowed Novakowski to score. Higgins lifted a sac fly to center field as Swartout touched home plate, 11-4. The Scots added two runs in the seventh as Ramapo held an 11-6 lead.
 
Ramapo starting pitcher Jake Depetris (1-1) recorded his first career win on the mound as he struck out eight, walked none and scattered six hits. Depetris worked six complete innings and surrendered just four runs. Will Paoli pitched the seventh letting up three hits and two runs while Ryan Lasko worked the final two innings. Lasko struck out two, walked one and let up just one hit and no runs.
 
Ramapo pounded out 17 hits in the game as Ciani finished 4-6 with two runs and one RBI. Lalomia finished with three hits while Tallent, Bailey, Swartout and Tauber all recorded two hits. Tauber led the way with three RBI while Bailey and Higgins each plated two RBI.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Thursday, March 20th when they take on the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point at 3:30 PM.
