Lancaster, PA: The Lancaster Bible College men's basketball team defeated Ramapo College tonight at the Horst Athletic Center, 92-64. The Chargers remain undefeated at 4-0 overall while the Roadrunners move to 1-3 overall.
The Chargers opened the first half on a 14-0 run and their defense forced 15 Ramapo turnovers in the first half, leading to 24 points for Lancaster Bible. The Roadrunners tallied 17 points in the half as they shot 23% (5-21) from the field and 70% (7-10) from the free throw line. The Chargers shot 52% (19-36) from the field, 40% (6-15) from the three-point line and 87% (7-8) from the free throw line as they built their 34-point lead heading into the locker room at, 51-17.
Ramapo outscored Lancaster Bible 47-41 in the second half. The Chargers held their largest lead of the game with 11:07 on the clock as Luke Rumbaugh added two points for a layup, 70-30. Ramapo then outscored Lancaster Bible 29-10 over the next 8:11 to shrink their lead to 25. Ramapo went 11-17 from the floor and 7-8 from the free throw line during the run as
Tim Linton tallied 10 points,
Jack O'Leary posted eight points, Keith Shuler added five points and
Elijah Barlow,
Jalen Thomas and
Nahum Lewis each contributed with two points. O'Leary started the run with a free throw and Lewis capped it off with a layup with 2:33 remaining. Tyler Chapman snapped the Ramapo run with a three-pointer for the Chargers, which was one of two three-pointers to wrap up the scoring for Lancaster in the final two minutes of action. Ramapo added five points to their total while the Chargers added eight to come away with a 92-64 non-conference win.
Five players scored in double figures for the Chargers including three starters. Camden Hurst and Connor Store each posted 16 points while Trey Grube added 11 points including three three-pointers. Nile Austin and Rumbaugh each contributed with ten points in the game. Storr led the way with eight rebounds and two blocks. The Chargers tallied 38 points in the paint, 33 points off Ramapo turnovers, 28 fast break points and 11 second chance points. The team shot 50% (34-67) from the floor, 44% (12-27) from the three-point throw line and 63% (12-19) from the free throw line.
Elijah Barlow recorded a season high 13 points while
Tim Linton posted ten points and five rebounds.
Jack O'Leary and
Keithan Shuler contributed with eight and seven points respectively. The Roadrunners recorded 42 points in the pain, 11 points off Charger turnovers, 13 second chance points and six fast break points in the game. The team shot 43% (26-53) from the field and 72% (18-25) from the free throw line.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday afternoon on the road at Farmingdale State College for a non-conference game at 2:30 PM.Â
