Farmingdale, NY: The Farmingdale State men's basketball team used a strong first half to defeat Ramapo College, 90-75. The Rams move to 4-1 while the Roadrunners drop to 1-4 on the year.
Farmingdale State built a 12-point lead in the first six minutes of the game capped off with a three-pointer from Sean Conroy, 16-4 (14:14). A layup and three-pointer from
Nahum Lewis cut the lead to seven before an 8-0 run from the Rams extended their lead to 15 with less than ten to play in the first. Ramapo once again shrunk the Ram's lead to 10 with 8:16 remining before the Rams closed out the half on a 19-9 run. Farmingdale took a 46-29 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Rams opened up the second half on a 10-5 run to extend their lead to 56-31. Farmingdale held a 25+ lead the majority of the second half before Ramapo cut the lead to under 20 in the final minute of action. The Rams saw five players score in double figures in the game including three starters. They were led by Dylon Stanley who finished 8-8 from the floor with 16 points while Jordan Tucker added 15 points, six rebounds. Sean Conroy and Liam Buckley each tallied 11 points while Buckley grabbed a team high seven rebounds. Kentrell Evans contributed with 10 points and six rebounds for the Rams. The team tallied 38 points in the paint, 15 second change points and seven points off turnovers. The Rams shot nearly 50% from the field (33-67), 46% (12-25) from the three-point line and 66% (12-18) from the free throw line in the game.
Lewis led the way for the Roadrunners with 21 points while
Elijah Barlow tallied 18 points, three rebounds and two steals.
Tyrell Murchison and
Keith Shuler each collected eight points in the game while Murchison added five rebounds, four steals and four assists.
Roland Majors posted a team high eight rebounds with five points. The team scored 46 points in the paint, 17 points off Ram turnovers and 37 bench points in the game. The Roadrunners shot 43% (31-72) from the field, 16% (2-12) from the three-point line and 68% (11-16) from the free throw line.
Ramapo returns to action on Tuesday, November 25th for a matchup with New Jersey City University in a NJAC game at 7:30 PM.
