Mahwah, NJ: The #18-ranked Montclair State University men's soccer team earned a NJAC road win over Ramapo College tonight at the Athletic Center Turf Field, 5-1. The Red Hawks improve to 12-1-3 overall and 5-1-1 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners now stand at 9-6-1 overall and 2-5 in the league.
The Red Hawks tallied two goals in the first half as Logan Neno (13:20) and Tomas Monteiro (27:59) each scored for Montclair State. The Roadrunners would make it a one goal game in the 42nd minute when
Dylan Perez tallied his fifth goal of the season.
Leo Mandile blasted a shot off the crossbar and was blocked on his second before Perez collected the ball and scored with a shot to the upper corner of the net.
Early in the second half Sebastian Lapczynski scored the team's third goal when the Red Hawks were awarded a penalty kick. Thomas Monteiro would make it 4-1 for the Red Hawks off a cross from Kevin Contreras in the 62nd minute (61:04) before Danny Tobon extended the score with a goal in the 70th minute (69:50). The Red Hawks posted 15 shots in the game with nine on goal while they recorded three corner kicks. Pierre Soumeillant posted three saves in the game for Montclair State. The Roadrunners collected 11 shots with four on goal and led the way with five corner kicks in the game.
Zachary Natt collected three saves in goal for Ramapo in the game.
The Roadrunners return to action Saturday, October 25th when they host Rowan University in NJAC action at 1:00 PM. The team will also honor their senior class in a pre-game ceremony.
