Jersey City, NJ: The New Jersey City University women's soccer team earned their first NJAC win of the season with a 1-0 victory over Ramapo College. The Gothic Knights improve to 8-5-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners drop to 5-6-2 overall and 1-4 in the conference.
The Gothic Knights would score the lone goal of the game in the 38
th minute (37:02) of action when Gabriella Cardona collected a misplayed ball by the defense inside the 18-yard box. Cardona hit the back of the net to give NJCU a 1-0 lead on her fifth goal of the season. The Gothic Knights would hold the Roadrunners scoreless the remainder of the game to earn the NJAC road victory. NJCU tallied five shots (two on goal) in the game with two corner kicks while the Roadrunners posted 13 shots (two on goal) and three corner kicks. Sophia Mannino posted two saves in goal for the Gothic Knights while
Gabby Matias tallied one for the Roadrunners.
The Roadrunners return to action this Saturday when host Stockton University for a 1:00 PM NJAC game.
