Jersey City, NJ: The Ramapo College men's soccer team defeated NJAC rival New Jersey City University today, 4-1. The Roadrunners improve to 9-4-1 overall and 2-3 in the NJAC while the Gothic Knights drop to 4-9-2 overall and 1-4 in the league.
Ramapo scored in the 33rd minute (32:09) of the game when
Dylan Perez collected his fourth goal of the season to put the team on the board, 1-0. In the second half, after the Roadrunners earned a free kick just outside the box,
Gianfranco Ponce posted his first goal (54:10) of the game and sixth overall to make it a 2-0 game. Kenneth Valladares hit the back of the net for NJCU to put them on the board in the 65th minute (64:35) of action, this was his fourth goal of the season.
Alim Lita (84:20) and Ponce (85:10) scored back-to-back goals with Ponce assisting on Lita's as the Roadrunners pushed the score, 4-1.
Ramapo recorded 14 shots in the game including six on goal while they posted four corner kicks. NJCU tallied 15 shots in the game while recording four on goal. The Gothic Knights tallied eight corner kicks in the game.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday on the road when they travel to Stockton University for a 1:00 PM NJAC game.
