Wayne, NJ: The William Paterson University women's soccer team defeated Ramapo College tonight in NJAC action, 2-0. The Pioneers earn their fifth shutout of the season and improve to 6-3-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners move to 4-3-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
The Pioneers scored one goal in each half to earn the NJAC victory. Michaela Kerr scored in the 6th minute of action (5:13) off a pass from Kiley Hines to put WPU up, 1-0. In the second half, the Roadrunners hit the crossbar in the 49th minute before the Pioneers added to their lead. WPU was awarded a penalty kick as Erin Clark collected her second goal of the season with 52:42 on the clock, 2-0.
Both teams recorded five shots on goal in the game while the Roadrunners held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Gabby Matias posted three saves for Ramapo while Sarah Mantilla collected five saves for the Pioneers.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, October 4th when they host Kean University in NJAC action at the Athletic Center Turf Field at 7:00 PM.
