Danbury, CT: The Ramapo College men's soccer team moved to 2-1-1 overall as they battled Western Connecticut State University to a 1-1 draw. The Wolves now stand at 1-2-1 overall.
Jack Hosmer put Ramapo on the board in the first half in the 17th minute for a 1-0 score. WestConn goalie Zachary Benson would save an initial shot from
Gianfranco Ponce but he could not collect the ball which sailed out to Hosmer. Hosmer collected it and hit the back of the net for his first goal of the season.
In the second half, Ramapo net-minder
Nikolai Matthews came up big and saved a Wolves penalty kick in the 66th minute. WestConn would get on the board in the 79th minute as Kadin Talho tallied his third goal of the season to tie the game, 1-1. The Wolves were awarded a second penalty kick in the 87th minute as the shot missed high to keep the game tied at one. Ramapo recorded three shots in the final three minutes of action including one on goal by
Alim Lita but could not find the back of the net. The Ramapo defense would hold the Wolves in the final minutes without a shot on goal. Matthews recorded nine saves in the game for the Roadrunners. Benson posted three for WestConn.
Ramapo earned seven corner kicks in the game and nine shots including four on goal. WestConn posted 17 shots in the game including ten on goal while posting two corner kicks.
The Roadrunners return home on Saturday, Sept. 14th at 7pm when they host Saint Elizabeth University in non-conference action at the Athletic Center Turf Field.
