BASEBALL SWEEPS GOTHIC KNIGHTS IN NJAC ACTION

Jersey City, NJ:  The Ramapo College baseball team swept New Jersey City University today to win their fourth straight, 4-3 in game one and 9-3 in game two. The Roadrunners improve to 15-8 overall and 5-1 in the NJAC while the Gothic Knights fall to 6-13 overall and 1-5 in the conference.
 
Game1:
Ramapo starting pitcher Nick Danbrowney (3-1) struck out six and surrendered three runs and seven hits in eight innings of work while Will Paoli earned his fifth save of the season as the Roadrunners won game one, 4-3.
 
Ramapo took a 3-1 lead into the seventh inning before NJCU tied the game up with two runs of their own, 3-3. In the ninth, the Roadrunners were able to push a run across for the one run victory. Robert Klawans led off the ninth and reached on a two-base NJCU error before he later scored on a fielder's choice off the bat of Dominick Ciani.
 
Zack Bailey finished 3-5 at the plate with two doubles while Jesse Swartout finished 2-4 with a double and one run scored.
 
Game 2:
Ramapo led 2-0 after two innings of play with RBI singles from John Higgins and Klawans. In the sixth, the Roadrunners scored four runs to push the lead to 6-0, the inning was highlighted by RBI doubles from Swartout and Klawans.
 
NJCU scored single runs in the seventh and eighth to get on the board before Ramapo added three in the ninth. Jack Tallent plated Bailey with an RBI sac fly before Matt Lalomia singled home Higgins for an 8-2 lead. TJ Roman worked a bases loaded walk to push home Lalomia for the 9-2 score. In the bottom of the ninth, NJCU added their final run as Ramapo earned the 9-3 win.
 
Ramapo recorded 16 hits including six doubles in game two as Klawans finished 3-4 with three RBI and one run scored. Tyler Guadagno, Ciani, Bailey, Higgins and Lalomia each finished with two hits each. Lalomia also recorded his 100th career hit in game two. 
 
James Pazdera (3-0) struck out seven, did not let up a run and scattered four hits in six innings of work. Ryan Lasko struck out three in 1.2 innings of work while Matt Ivanicki finished the final 1.1 innings for the Roadrunners.
 
Ramapo returns to action Tuesday, April 9th when they travel to New Paltz for a non-conference game at 3:30 PM.
