Mahwah, NJ: The #22 ranked Ramapo College softball team earned a key NJAC split with #13 ranked Rowan University today at the Athletic Center. The Roadrunners (22-4, 9-1 NJAC) took game one, 3-0, before the Profs (24-6, 9-1 NJAC) won game two, 7-0.

In game one, Ramapo extended their win streak to 16 in the shutout victory while they snapped the Profs 17 game win streak. Ramapo scratched two runs across in the bottom of the first inning to take a quick 2-0 lead.
Katie Rygiel led off the inning being hit by a pitch before
Alexis Corra drew a four pitch walk. Wheeler was hit by a pitch to load the bases before the Profs made a pitching change in the circle.
Avery Bartolomeo was then hit by a pitch to plate Rygiel for the 1-0 lead.
Avery Kontura then lifted a sac fly to center field which allowed Corra to score, 2-0. The Roadrunners plated their third run in the fifth.
Avery Bartolomeo led off with a double before being lifted for pinch runner Clay'le Correa – Vanness with two outs on the board.
Hannah Hensler then ripped a single into center field as Correa – Vanness came around to score, 3-0.

Marissa DiPaolo (9-0) spun a two-hitter while she struck out three and walked three in the complete game shutout. Hensler led the way at the plate for Ramapo as she finished 2-3 with one RBI.

In game two, the Profs turned the tables and snapped Ramapo's win streak with a shutout victory of their own, 7-0. The game was called in the top of the seventh with one out due to darkness. For the Profs, Rylee Lutz (10-4) fired a one-hit shutout with four strikeouts and three walks. Lutz gave up just one hit to Rygiel to lead off the bottom of the first. Rowan scored one in the first, two in the second and three in the third while they added their final run in the fourth.

In the first, Cat Thomas drove home the team's first RBI with a single to right field as McKenzie Melvin scored, 1-0. Melvin then plated one run in the top of the second with an RBI single to right field before Liz McCaffrey singled home Bre Bryant for a 3-0 lead. The bases were loaded for Abby Pawlowski who drove home two runs before she later scored during a 5-2-3 double play as the Profs extended their lead, 6-0. In the fourth, Rowan added one more run as McCaffery scored on an RBI single from Payton MacNair.

The Roadrunners return to action on Tuesday, April 16th when they travel to Rutgers-Newark University for a pair of NJAC games at 3:30 PM.Â
