Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College baseball team scored three runs in the bottom of the 10th inning to comeback for a 13-12 win over William Paterson University today at Jeff Maund Field. The Roadrunners win their sixth straight and improve to 17-8 overall and 6-1 in the NJAC while the Pioneers now stand at 7-18 overall and 2-6 in the conference.
Ramapo battled back to score five in the sixth and one in the eighth to tie the game at ten forcing extra innings. WPU scratched two runs across the plate in the top of the tenth to take a 12-10 lead before Ramapo came back with three of their own to earn the walk-off NJAC win.
In the tenth,
John Higgins reached on an infield error before
Jack Tallent laced a single to center field and
Matt Lalomia walked to load the bases with no outs. Following a Pioneer pitching change, Higgins raced home on a wild pitch before
Jesse Swartout launched a deep fly ball to the left-center field gap for a sac fly. Tallent would score the tying run while Lalomia was able to move up to third base to set up the game-winning run.
Robert Klawans took the second pitch he saw and ripped it into left field as Lalomia raced home with the game-winning run and walk-off victory for the Roadrunners, 13-12.
Will Paoli (1-2) earned the win in relief as he struck out three, walked two and let up just one hit in two innings of work. Klawans finished 5-5 with four RBI and one run scored while
Jack Tallent finished 2-4 with two runs scored.
Jesse Swartout also collected four RBI and finished 1-4 with one run scored at the plate.
Ramapo returns to action tomorrow afternoon in Wayne, NJ at William Paterson University to complete the home-and-home NJAC series. The game is slated to begin at 3:30 PM.
