Claremont, FL: The #19 ranked Kalamazoo College baseball team used a six run sixth inning to defeat Ramapo College 10-0 in a seven inning run-rule game today at the RussMatt Invitational. The hornets move to 10-1 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 7-5 overall.
The Hornets scored three in the third and one in the fifth for a 4-0 lead while they broke the game open with a six run top of the sixth for a 10-0 score. The game ended due to a ten-run rule after seven innings played in the invitational. Braden Mussat (3-0) scattered three Roadrunner hits and struck out 11 with just two walks in six complete innings for Kalamazoo. Brenden Oprinski worked the seventh with one strikeout and one walk while he did not surrender a hit. David Stechow finished 3-3 with three runs scored and two RBI while Harrison Poeszat finished 2-4 with four RBI.
Ramapo's three hits came from
Zach Novakowski and
John Higgins who each doubled while
Matt Lalomia recorded a single.
Jake Depetris (0-2) took the loss on the mound for the Roadrunners. He struck out four, did not walk a batter while surrendering seven hits and five runs in five innings of work.
Ramapo returns to action tomorrow afternoon with a pair of seven innings games against Colby College (6-2) starting at 1:15 PM.
