RAMAPO PULLS AWAY FOR A 74-56 WIN OVER RUTGERS-CAMDEN

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's basketball team posted a 74-56 win over Rutgers-Camden University tonight at the Bradley Center. The Roadrunners improve to 15-7 overall and 9-6 in the NJAC while the Scarlet Raptors move to 11-11 overall and 6-9 in the conference.
 
Ramapo jumped out to a 5-0 lead as Jordan Myers recorded a pair of free throws to open the game and Justin Bladen connected on a three-pointer before Rutgers-Camden got on the board with a three-pointer from Jordany Pierre. A three-pointer from Peter Gorman started a 10-2 run which saw Ramapo up 15-5 with 14:32 on the clock. Ramapo saw themselves up 11 before Rutgers-Camden shrunk the lead to five with back-to-back three-pointers from Cameron Downs and Jordan Trusty-Smith. With 2:50 left in the half, the Roadrunners led 32-23 on a pair of free throws from Gorman before Rutgers-Camden would go on a 10-1 run to tie the game at halftime, 33 all.
 
Anthony Corbo scored the first basket of the second half before Rutgers-Camden re-tied the game at 35 with a pair of free throws. Ramapo took the lead for good with a three-pointer from Bladen before Corbo scored back-to-back baskets for a 42-36 lead. Ramapo would later push the lead to 20 as Bladen connected on another three-pointer in the game, 62-42 with 7:33 on the clock. Ramapo held a double digit lead in the final seven minutes of action for a key NJAC victory, 74-56.
 
Four starters scored in double figures for Ramapo in the game as they were led by Gorman who tallied 19 points as he finished 12-13 from the free throw line. Rooney tallied 14 points while Corbo posted a double-double of 12 rebounds, 13 points and eight assists. Bladen tallied 11 points while Barlow posted nine and Myers recorded ten rebounds and six points. The Roadrunners shot 52% (22-42) from the field, 50% (6-12) from the three-point line and 75% (24-32) from the free throw line. Ramapo scored 22 points in the paint and 15 points off Scarlet Raptor turnovers.
 
Cameron Downs led the way for Rutgers-Camden with 16 points while he added six rebounds. Eric Benjamin posted ten points and four rebounds while Ethan Tarte collected nine points, two assists and two rebounds. The team shot 30% (19-63) from the floor, 25% (7-28) from the three-point line and 78% (11-14) from the free throw line.
 
Ramapo will return to action on Wednesday, February 7th when they travel to Montclair State University for a 7:30 PM NJAC game.
