Montclair, NJ: The Montclair State University men's basketball team defeated Ramapo College tonight in NJAC action, 90-63. The Red Hawks improve to 16-7 overall, 11-5 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners move to 15-8 overall and 9-7 in the league.
The game was tied at 35 at halftime before the Red Hawks outscored Ramapo 55-28 in the second half. Montclair State sank nine three-pointers in the second half including four straight to extend their lead to 21 with 7:42 remaining. The Red Hawks controlled the last seven minutes of the game and finished with an 8-0 run which included two three-pointers.
Four players scored in double figures for the Red Hawks including two starters. Mike Jackson led the way with 21 points and finished 4-7 from the three-point line. Kunga Tsering added 13 points while Fransico Paulino and Kyree Henry each contributed with 12 points. Montclair State shot 51% (34-66) from the field, 41% (12-29) from the three-point line and 83% (10-12) from the free throw line in the game. The Red Hawks forced 19 Ramapo turnovers which led to 16 points for MSU.
For Ramapo,
Shane Rooney posted 18 points and seven rebounds to lead the team.
Jordan Myers added 16 points while
Justin Bladen contributed with 14 points. The Roadrunners shot 47% (25-53) from the field, 14% (1-7) from the three-point line and 70% (12-17) from the free throw line in the game.
The Roadrunners return to action in the final regular season home game on Saturday, February 10th when they host the College of New Jersey in a NJAC game at 1:00 PM.
