Mahwah, NJ: The College of New Jersey field hockey team defeated Ramapo College 3-0 today at the Athletic Center Turf Field. The Lions improve to 11-5 overall, 5-1 in the NJAC while the Roadrunner move to 3-13 overall and 0-5 in the conference.
The Lions scored early in the first half when Isabel Maher tallied her sixth goal of the season in the 7th minute (6:55) before Mackenzie Hart hit the back of the net in the ninth minute (8:12) for a two goal lead. Rayhanah Ahmed earned back-to-back assists for the Lions. In the second quarter, TCNJ was awarded a penalty stroke in the 21st minute (20:58) as Ahmed scored her team-leading 11th goal of the season to push the score, 3-0.
The Ramapo defense held the TCNJ offense in check for the remainder of the game. Ramapo goalie
Michelle Kukan stopped a second penalty stroke from the Lions while
Juliana Mikulski (2) and
Victoria Chavez (1) each recorded defensive saves. Kukan recorded a new season and career high in saves in the game with 22.
The Roadrunners return to action on October 29th when they travel to New Paltz for a non-conference game beginning at 3:30 PM.
