Mahwah, NJ: The Hunter College women's volleyball team outlasted a Ramapo College comeback tonight at the Bradley Center. The Hawks (15-5 overall) came away with a 3-1 (25-18, 25-18, 17-25, 27-25) road win over the Roadrunners (2-13 overall).
After falling in the first two sets the Roadrunners came back to win set three before taking a strong lead in set four. Ramapo led 15-10 in the fourth set before the Hawks went on a four point run. Ramapo would push their lead to 18-15 before Hunter earned the next two points to come within one of tying the set, 17-18. The Roadrunners recorded the next three points as they held a 21-17 lead before Hunter went on a 5-1 run to tie the set at 22 all. Ramapo scored the next two points for a 24-22 lead while Hunter scored the next three straight to take a 25-24 lead. Having to win by two, a kill from
Riley Stewart tied the game at 25 before the Hawks got back-to-back kills from Izabella Williams for the 27-25 win.
Stewart led the Roadrunners with 18 kills while adding 11 digs, two solo blocks and one ace.
Amanda Fatouh collected 14 kills, two assists, one ace and 13 digs.
Katie Bishop collected 32 assists while she added two kills, two aces and nine digs.
Emma Garcia led the team on defense with 23 digs while she contributed with three assists.
Kayla Price added 12 digs on defense and two aces.
For Hunter, Isabella Williams collected ten kills and 15 digs along with three aces and one solo block. Amina Moummad tallied ten kills, three aces and nine digs while Simone McIntyre tallied eight kills, three aces and 12 digs. Erin Dugan posted a match high 24 digs while Bethany Tomaneng recorded 35 assists, four kills, 13 digs and one ace.
Ramapo returns to action on Tuesday, October 22nd when they host Montclair State University at the Bradley Center at 7:00 PM.
