Ewing, NJ: The Ramapo College men's soccer team held off a comeback from the College of New Jersey today on the road they earned a 4-2 win. The Roadrunners improve to 7-2-3 overall and 2-1-1 in the NJAC while the Lions drop to 1-9-4 overall and 1-2-1 in the conference.
Ramapo scored three goals in the first half while the Lions added two before time expired in the half.
Kyle Allen scored his team leading 9th goal of the season as he collected a rebound off a save in the 16th minute (15:34), 1-0.
Gianfranco Ponce hit the back of the net off a corner kick from Allen in the 19th minute (18:22) before
Jack Hosmer took a pass from
Jake Szatkowski in the 25th minute (24:30) to extend the Roadrunner lead, 3-0. TCNJ would score back-to-back goals to close out the first half. Matias Hornos tallied his third goal of the season (38:38) before Danny Hyde collected his first goal with an assist from Hornos to come within one goal of tying the game (44:17).
The Roadrunners would add an insurance goal in the 55th minute during the second half when Ponce connected with Hosmer for his 7th goal of the season for a 4-2 lead. Ramapo held a 13-10 advantage in shots on goal in the game while TCNJ recorded eight corner kicks to Ramapo's three.
Nikolai Matthews tallied seven saves in the win for the Roadrunners while Colin Rentner posted nine in goal for the Lions.
Ramapo returns to action on October 16th when they host New Jersey City University in NJAC action at 7pm.
