MEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS AT RUTGERS-CAMDEN

Camden, NJ:  The Rutgers-Camden University men's basketball team slipped past Ramapo College this afternoon, 68-65, in NJAC action. The Scarlet Raptors move to 8-6 overall and 3-4 in the conference while the Roadrunners now stand at 11-3 overall and 5-2 in the NJAC.
 
Rutgers-Camden snapped Ramapo's five game win streak as three Scarlet Raptors scored in double figures. Cameron Downs posted 20 points, six rebounds and four steals while Eric Benjamin added 13 points and Javon Gordon posted 12. The Scarlet Raptor defense forced 15 Ramapo turnovers which led to 17 points. Rutgers-Camden also posted 16 points in the paint while they shot 45% (21-46) from the floor, 39% (9-23) from the three-point line and 85% (17-20) from the free throw line. In the second half, Rutgers-Camden held a seven point lead, 49-42, before Ramapo went on a 9-2 run which tied the game at 51 with just over 11 minutes on the clock. The Scarlet Raptors stretched the lead back to seven with 7:39 on the clock before a three-pointer from Justin Bladen and a layup from Jordan Myers gave Ramapo a mini 5-1 run to cut the lead to just three with 5:51 remaining. The Scarlet Raptors held a six point lead down the stretch with under two minutes on the clock before Bladen sank a three-pointer for the Roadrunners to cut the lead, 65-68 with 1:30 on the clock. Neither team converted in the final minute of the game as Rutgers-Camden held on for the three-point NJAC victory.
 
Three Roadrunners scored in double figures in the game while they were led by Shane Rooney with 21 points. Jordan Myers added 14 points while Bladen contributed with 11. The team shot 51% (27-52) from the floor, 25% (3-12) from the three-point line and 47% (8-17) from the free throw line.
 
Ramapo returns to action on Wednesday night at the Bradley Center when they host NJAC rival William Paterson University (6-81-6 NJAC) at 7:30 PM.
