FIVE STARTERS SCORE IN DOUBLE FIGURES IN WIN OVER WPU

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College men's basketball team pushes their overall record to 12-3 overall and 6-2 in the NJAC with a 72-60 win over William Paterson University tonight at the Bradley Center. The Pioneers drop to 6-9 overall, 1-7 in the NJAC.
 
Ramapo opened the game on a 10-0 run started by a Jordan Myers layup and capped off with a Peter Gorman three-pointer. Ramapo led 14-3 as Justin Bladen tallied a three-pointer with 15:46 on the clock. The Roadrunners held a double digit lead throughout the first half including a 13-point lead heading into halftime as Shane Rooney connected with a layup as time expired, 36-23. In the second half, Ramapo stretched the lead to 19 on a three-pointer from Anthony Corbo off an assist from Gorman, 63-44, with less than eight minutes to play. A 14-1 from the Pioneers shrunk the lead to just six with 2:18 on the clock, 64-58 before Bladen sank a three-pointer for the Roadrunners. That started a mini 8-2 run to close out the game for a 72-60 win.
 
Five players scored in double figures for the Roadrunners which included three double-doubles. Myers recorded 17 points, ten rebounds, two blocks and two steals while Corbo added 17 points, 11 rebounds and three assists. Shane Rooney posted 13 points and 11 rebounds and Gorman added 12 points, five assists and two steals. Bladen contributed with ten points and five rebounds. Ramapo shot 40% (24-60) from the field, 36% (7-19) from the three-point line and 65% (17-26) from the free throw line.
 
For WPU, Neftali Valentin led the team with 15 points while Andre Wells and Shawn Summers Jr., each contributed with 13 points. MJ Moncrieffe led the team with 11 rebounds while adding eighth points. The Pioneers shot 32% (23-70) from the field, 23% (6-26) from the three-point line and 57% (8-14) from the three-point line.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on the road on Saturday afternoon at the College of New Jersey for a 3:00 PM NJAC game.
