Ewing, NJ: The College of New Jersey men's basketball team earned an 82-74 win over Ramapo College today in NJAC action as both teams now hold identical records of 12-4 overall and 6-3 in the conference.
TCNJ used an offensive attack which included 14 three-pointers while they also outrebounded the Roadrunners. Jason Larranaga led the Lions with 21 points as he finished 6-8 from the floor, 5-7 from the three-point line and 4-6 from the free throw line. James Beckwith connected on four made three-pointers as he finished with 16 points while Matthew Solomon and Matthew Okorie each had double-doubles in the game. Solomon posted 12 points and 11 rebounds while Okorie led the team with 12 rebounds and ten points. Nick Koch posted a team high nine assists while adding nine points and two rebounds. The team shot 47% (31-66) from the field, 46% (14-30) from the three-point line and 50% (6-12) from the free throw line. TCNJ scored 34 points in the paint while they tallied 20 points off Ramapo turnovers and 15 second chance points.
For the Roadrunners,
Peter Gorman led the way with 32 points as he nearly eclipsed his career high which he set a year ago on the road at TCNJ of 34 points. He finished with seven assists, three steals and two rebounds.
Jordan Myers added seven rebounds and 13 points while
Shane Rooney collected a team high eight rebounds while adding nine points. The Roadrunners shot 45% (26-57) from the field, 44% (4-9) from the three-point line and 69% (18-26) from the free throw line. Ramapo posted 34 points in the paint and 13 points off TCNJ turnovers.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, January 17th when they travel to Rutgers-Newark University for a NJAC game at 8:00 PM.
