KEAN TOPS RAMAPO IN NJAC ACTION

Mahwah, NJ:  The Kean University men's basketball team defeated Ramapo College, 73-56, tonight at the Bradley Center in NJAC action. The Cougars move to 9-10 overall and even their conference record at 6-6. The Roadrunners move to 13-6 overall and 7-5 in the conference.
 
Kean held Ramapo to just 22 points in the first half as they took a 39-22 lead into the locker room at halftime. Both teams scored 34 points in the second half as Kean earned the 73-56 road victory. Ramapo went on a 12-4 run to open the second half and shrink the Cougar lead to just nine as Peter Gorman sank back-to-back three pointers, 34-43, with 16:05 on the clock. Kean's Justin Morton and DJ Alicea each scored a three-pointer to stretch the lead back to 15. With 13:02 on the clock Gorman sank a three-pointer before Jordan Myers scored a jumper which started a 12-4 run which brought the Kean lead back down to nine once again, this time with 8:35 left to play. Kean got their lead back to 13 before Ramapo cut it to nine for a third time before a Cougar three-pointer sent their lead back to double digits, 63-51, with 5:26 on the clock. Kean outscored Ramapo down the stretch 10-5 for the 73-56 victory.
 
Four Cougars scored in double figures as they were led by Brandon Upshaw with 17 points, Alicea with 15 points, Justin Morton with 13 points and Ethan Stith with 11. Mario Gunn posted 21 rebounds to lead the team. Kean scored 45% (29-64) from the floor, 31% (7-22) from the three-point line and 88% (8-9) from the free throw line.
 
Ramapo had three Roadrunners score in double figures as they were led by Gorman with 21 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals. Elijah Barlow posted 13 points including three three-pointers. Shane Rooney added ten points and eight rebounds while Myers added eight points and a team high 11 rebounds. Ramapo shot 33% (19-57) from the field, 35% (6-17) from the three-point line and 66% (12-18) from the free throw line.
 
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, January 27th when they travel to Rowan University for a NJAC game at 3:00 PM.
