Ashland, VA: The Swarthmore College Garnet defeated the Ramapo College Roadrunners today in the NCAA Softball Regional Semifinal game, 5-2. The Garnet won their 11th straight to improve to 26-16 overall and advance to Saturday's NCAA Regional Championship game. The Roadrunners fall to 33-13-1 and will play in an elimination game at 4:00pm.
In the top of the second inning for Ramapo,
Avery Bartolomeo led off with a single and moved to second on a sac bunt from
Avery Kontura.
Alex Hastings beat out a bunt single before
Anna Messina laced a single to left field as Bartolomeo scored, 1-0.
In the bottom of the second, the Garnet hit back-to-back singles with one out before a two out walk loaded the bases. Jordan Jackson worked a walk to force home Kate Hart to tie the game before Iris Barone poked a single to the left-center field gap to plate two runs, 3-1. The Garnet added two runs in the fourth inning with an RBI single and a Ramapo error to plate the second run. 5-1.

Alexis Corra doubled to left field,
Mahogany Wheeler worked a walk and
Avery Bartolomeo singled to load the bases with one out. A sac fly from Kontura plated pinch runner
Lia Milsom to get back one run before a strikeout with the bases loaded from Garnet starting pitcher Emily Bertrand ended the Ramapo threat.
Sarah Schab entered the circle in relief for the Garnet to pitch the final two innings as she held the Roadrunners scoreless in the final two frames. Bertrand (11-2) worked the first five innings to earn the win as she struck out three, walked three and scattered seven Ramapo hits. Schab struck out one, walked one and let up three hits.
Marissa DiPaolo (11-4) took the loss for Ramapo in the circle as she struck out one, walked three and let up two hits and three runs in the first 1.2 innings of the game.
Brooke Knight came in for relief for the Roadrunners in her second appearance in as many days. Knight struck out seven and walked one while surrendering three hits and two runs (one earned). Ramapo collected ten hits in the game as they were led by Bartolomeo who finished 3-4 at the plate. Wheeler finished 2-3 while her single in the third was her 100th hit of her career. Corra also collected her 100th hit of her career in a Ramapo uniform with her double in the fifth.
