Galloway, NJ: The Stockton University baseball team earned a 9-2 win over Ramapo College today to open the NJAC portion of the season. The Ospreys move to 12-7, 1-0 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners move to 11-7, 0-1 in the conference.
Ramapo got on the board first in the game with an RBI single in the third inning from
Tyler Guadagno as
Will Egner crossed home plate for a 1-0 lead. Stockton would tie the game in the third before taking a 3-1 lead in the fourth.
Matt Lalomia laced an RBI single to center field which plated Guadagno for Ramapo's second run of the game to cut the Stockton lead to just one, 2-3 in the top of the fifth. Stockton would retake the lead in the bottom half of the inning as they scored four runs for a 7-2 score. The Ospreys added one run in the sixth and one in the eighth to extend the lead, 9-2.
Mike Schiattarella (4-1) earned the win on the mound for Stockton in five innings pitched as he surrendered five hits and two runs. Stockton recorded seven hits and worked eight walks in the game.
Nick Danbrowney (3-2) suffered the loss on the mound for the Roadrunners as he struck out three, walked six and let up just two hits and three runs (two earned). Ramapo recorded five hits in the game as Egner posted two of them finishing 2-3 with one run scored.
The two squads will return to action tomorrow afternoon as the Roadrunners travel back to Stockton for a NJAC game at 3:30pm. The original Sunday double header was moved to one game Sunday and one game Monday due to field conditions from the storm in the area on Saturday evening.
