Mahwah, NJ: The Kean University baseball team earned a 16-1 win over Ramapo College today at Jeff Maund Field in NJAC action. The Cougars improve to 17-11 overall and 7-1 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners now stand at 15-10 overall and 3-4 in the conference.
The Cougars used a five run first inning to take an early lead while they added three runs in the third, three in the sixth and five in the eighth. Ramapo scored their run in the bottom of the seventh. Kean pounded out 14 hits in the game including three home runs, one each by Phil Marantonio, Gianni Marano and Josh Jackson.
Marano (3-1) started on the mound for the Cougars as he struck out three and scattered five hits in seven innings of work while surrendering one unearned run. Ryan Kulpa worked the final two innings for Kean as he struck out two, walked one and let up just one hit.
Dominick Ciani (1-2) took the loss for Ramapo. Ciani walked four and surrendered nine hits and eight runs (six earned). Ramapo collected six hits in the game as
Tyler Guadagno and
Sean Donaghue each recorded two hits for the team.
The Roadrunners and Cougars will complete the home-and-home NJAC series tomorrow afternoon in Union, NJ with a game at 3:30pm.
